Auto Window Regulators Repairs And Replacements

Window regulators are an extremely interesting part of a car that never receives any love or attention. From the day that the vehicle rolls off the assembly line, automotive door window regulators work endlessly moving the door glass up and down, giving the occupants of the vehicle the much beloved fresh air. Because of frequent window usage, window regulators and window motors are subject to intense wear. This often leads to breakage and inconvenience at the drive-up window.

There are two basic kinds of window regulators: manual and power.

The window regulator is responsible for the mechanical action of moving your window up and down in your door.If the regulator binds, comes loose or breaks, chances are your window will be stuck in one position or another. In the case of a broken regulator.

What caused my old window regulator to break?

Your window regulator may need to be replaced for many reasons. Common causes for window regulator failure includes excessive strain and breakage caused by forcing the window, damaged window tracks, old  or worn pulley and cable lines, and general wear and tear. Design quality and durable manufacturing materials are important to the reliability of a window regulator and motor.For these reasons, it is important to choose a quality designed and manufactured window regulator. Problems that may contribute to broken regulators:

    * Damaged window track
    * Worn or compromised weatherstripping
    * Misaligned window
    * Misplaced window stops
    * Obstructions in the windows or doors
    * Weakened balance springs
    * Ground wiring fault
 A window regulator can be a day long project.

NEVER LET YOUR OEM PART GO!. Never replace your OEM part with a cheap aftermarket part. Don't lose that ORIGINAL! REBUILD IT! SAVE BIG MONEY! YOU WON'T BE SORRY!

"OEM" stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer.
The OEM is the company that supplied the part when the car was produced. OEM parts are superior to other parts.

  • My car window fell off track,Appears to Be Off track or is Binding ?

    Windows don't normally just go off track (the regulator fails causing it to move out of the normal position). If the window appears to be off track, the regulator has most likely failed. Window regulators either use metal gears (which rarely fail) or they use a cable and plastic pulley design -

    which commonly fail. If the window has fallen, the regulator will most likely need to be replaced. If the glass is cocked unevenly and is binding, the regulator has most likely came apart. The motor will be heard when pushing the switch in many cases but the window won't work correctly due to the failed regulator.

  • Auto Manual Windows Repairs & Replacements

    A manual window regulator is the most basic of window lifting mechanisms. It always has some type of handle sticking through the door panel that regulates the up and down motion of the glass window. Humans are the "power" behind this type of regulator, as the window crank needs to be physically rotated to raise and lower the door glass. With so many vehicles coming with power windows these days, manual regulators are becoming scarce. Manual Window Regulators

  • Power Window Regulators

    A power window regulator works exactly like it sounds. It is a device that regulates the up and down motion of the glass window with the magic of electricity. Power window regulators will always have some type of electric motor attached to them that is controlled by a power window switch on the door panel or console. In many cases, an inoperable window motor can be replaced separately from the window regulator itself. This allows the repair to be less work, and less costly overall.

    Within each one of these types of regulators, you can have a "scissor-type" or "cable-type". Each style has its own benefits.

  • Cable Type Window Regulators

    The cable type window regulator is a more modern design that is used in a huge variety of vehicles. They use far less space inside the door, which is great when additional safety devices are needed. Unfortunately, no window regulators are immune to breakage. Being more complicated than the scissor-type, these window regulators have more opportunity to break. The pulleys and cables in these regulators typically wear out, and snap. When that happens, the glass almost always falls inside the door, leaving your interior open to nature's elements. That means that rain, snow, criminals, and cats will all have a full access pass to your stuff. Not cool!

    What Is A Window Regulator ?

    A window regulator is electric or manual, and it basically controls the up and down motions of a side window on a car.

    The window regulator is responsible for the mechanical action of moving your window up and down in your door.If the regulator binds, comes loose or breaks, chances are your window will be stuck in one position or another. In the case of a broken regulator, the window will slide down into the door, leaving you unable to shield the interior from the elements. When faced with this issue on your Car, it is best to have it repair or replace  a bad regulator immediately.

    How Do Auto Power Window Regulators Work ?

    Window regulators Are  located within car doors, help raise and lower windows of the vehicle. Since we use our windows frequently, window regulators and window motors are some of the most actively used parts in any vehicle. For this reason, window regulators and window motors are subject to high wear and tear that lead to breakage and inconvenience.

Why Repair Ensted Of Replacement?

Original Equipment Parts that came with your vehicle are being inferiorly copied and sold as "NEW".  These after market knock offs are of poor quality as they are manufactured with inferior metals.
When they first were introduced, companies would send me these parts in the hope that we would order from them. When you visually compare an OEM part to this "NEW KNOCK OFF" you can see that it will fail, it is obvious.
The smart alternative is to rebuild your original part, there is no substitute for the manufacturer's regulator.
