Auto Power Window Motor Mechanism.

What Is A  Power Window Motors?

The power window motor is also referred to as a window lift motor. The motor has a shaft that rotates and is attached to a mechanical assembly, the regulator. The rotation of the shaft drives the mechanical action of the the regulator, which moves your window up and down.

Window motors are located within car doors and working with the window regulator, raise and lower the windows of the vehicle. Since windows are used frequently, window motors are some of the most actively used parts in any vehicle. Thus, window regulators and window motors are subject to high wear and tear that leads to motor failure and inconvenience.

Car window is off track or motor is broken?

Common causes for window regulator and window motor failure includes excessive strain and breakage caused by forcing the window, damaged window tracks, old or worn pulley and cable lines, and general wear and tear. Design quality and durable manufacturing materials are important to the reliability of a window regulator and motor.

How Window Motors Work

Window motors are located within car doors and must be working properly with the window regulator, raising and lowering the windows of a vehicle.

Especially during the hot summer days in Vegas when you are trying to keep the cold A/C from escaping your car, but you are not able to roll those windows up you may need to have your window motors checked out.

The window motors of a vehicle is one of the most actively used parts. Window regulators and window motors are subject to high wear and tear that can sometimes lead to motor failure and usually causes all sorts of inconvenience.

Common Reasons Why Window Motors Fail

There are several common causes for a window regulator or window motor to work improperly.  Some of these issues include excessive strain and breakage caused by forcing the window, damaged window tracks, old or worn out pulley & cable lines, or just general wear and tear. Design quality and durable manufacturing materials play a crucial role in window regulator and window motors.

The window regulator is responsible for the mechanical action of moving your window up and down in your door. If the regulator binds, comes loose or breaks, chances are your window will be stuck in one position or another. In the case of a broken regulator, the window will slide down into the door, leaving you unable to shield the interior from the elements. When faced with this issue on your car , it is best to have it replace a bad regulator immediately.

What Is If My Window Motor Stops Working ?

If the glass moves a few inches and stops, then the motor is allowed time to cool down and will again move a few inches; the power motor will need to be replaced. If there is no sound coming from the motor, it may not be getting power or the motor itself may have an open circuit. Checking for power to the window's motor normally requires removing the door panel to access the wiring. After access to the power window wiring is gained, a test light or meter can be used to see if it is getting power and ground. I've learned (Eddie Martinez Owner)over the years a short cut that saves the hassle of removing the door panel for testing the motor. Most of the time when checking this problem, just turn the headlights and interior lights on; look for a slight dimming of the interior or dash lights when the power window switch is pushed. If a slight flicker or dimming of the interior lights occur, this indicates that the switch is functional and the motor is bad. Try this with one of the power windows that is working to gauge the affect on the interior lights. If there is no change in the brightness of the interior lights when trying this with the inoperative window, the switch could be bad.
